Confused

I feel confused
’Dad says we will all still be a family, even though we won't live together. Mum says she doesn't know how things will work out. My school friend says I won't see my dad very much when he moves out. I just can't imagine how my life is going to be. Who will take me to ballet on Wednesday evenings if Dad's not living here any more? Will I have to give it up? Will I be allowed to tell the same things to Mum and Dad?’
Emily, 9

It's really normal to feel confused.

You may feel confused about all the different things that are happening. Maybe no one is telling you what's going on. Perhaps your parents are saying different things.

Don't feel bad about how you feel. All children in your situation feel confused. Things will sort themselves out in the end.

Talk magic
If you keep your feelings inside you may get more and more confused and feel as if you are going to explode!

Feeling better
It's a good idea to talk to your parents. Tell them you don't understand what's going on. Ask them to tell you what's really happening.

Maybe you're afraid because you don't know what's going to happen to you. You may think you'll have to move house or school. Perhaps you're afraid that you will never be happy again but you will be in time.

Remember, it’s not your fault.
