How Mum and Dad should treat you

NCH

NCH

Your mum and dad are still both responsible for you even if they live apart.

You should be able to spend time with both your parents and other people who are important to you, including brothers, sisters and grandparents.

Your mum and dad should listen to what you feel even if they can’t always do as you wish. If you are finding it hard to talk or tell them what is worrying you, try and explain this. If parents know how you are feeling they can try and help you.

Your mum and dad should behave well to each other in front of you.

Your mum and dad should be able to talk to each other about things to do with you. If that’s hard, they can get help from a mediator to make it easier to sort things out in the best way for you.
